Thrilled at the response
to Lounge Theatre, Wise Words Media is pleased to announce that in August 2012
it returns to 'A Fistful of Scripts', along with Sean McIntyre’s outstanding,
internationally produced stage play ‘The Pickup’.
In June 2012, Jimmy Flinders Productions launched an exclusive preview of its bold, new theatre concept at Theatre Works. It will return in August with Lounge Theatre: ‘Michael and Paul’. Sean McIntyre’s outstanding, internationally produced stage play - ‘The Pickup’ - will also be presented.
For
writers, directors and producers, ‘A Fistful of Scripts’ is a demonstrated
incubator and laboratory for successful script development into working,
professional productions.
“We found the interactive Q & A panel invaluable,” says Marco Romero Rodriguez, Artistic Director and Co-Producer at Jimmy Flinders Productions. “It is rare and unique that a cast, writer and director can sit together as a panel to receive instant character critique and direct audience feedback in an environment such as this.”
“The
quality and depth of comments offered proved to us that the audience found our
script highly engaging. We now have even
more confidence that our script will grow into a successful, ongoing stage
production.”
Lounge
Theatre is performed in homes and intimate venues to discerning, niche
audiences of 20 to 40 people.
“The
nature of Lounge Theatre means that the audience is extremely close to the
actual performance space,” says Marco Romero Rodriguez. “This is unique,
micro-theatre viewed within the comfort of your own lounge room. Or one very
much like it”.
Presented
by Jimmy Flinders Productions, Lounge Theatre is an intimate, moving and highly
engaging theatre experience.
“’A
Fistful of Scripts’ has quickly established itself as fertile ground for
writers where new scripts for stage and screen can be ‘road-tested’ with a cast
in front of an audience,” says Sean McIntyre of Wise Words Media. “’A Fistful of Scripts’ is also the perfect
vehicle for the public to experience Lounge Theatre, Melbourne's newest theatre
offering.”
Following
each script the public will be encouraged to join a unique, open Q & A
forum
Sean
McIntyre’s outstanding short play ‘The Pickup’ will also be presented as a cold
reading.
It
has already been performed as a short play in Australia (Short and Sweet,
Melbourne [2005] and Sydney [2006]) and internationally (Dublin Gay
International Theatre Festival, Ireland [2007]).
“Since
its debut in 2005 at The Arts Centre, Melbourne the feedback and response to
‘The Pickup’ has encouraged me to now develop the piece into a full length
stage play,” says Sean McIntyre.
“Directors and writers who have seen it also feel it has potential to
become a touring production, both nationally and internationally”.
“Despite
the national and international success, of ‘The Pickup’, it has two elements
I've never been able to sort out on my own - how to stage the ending 'better'
and in order to make it a full length play, what are the best elements to focus
on?”.
“’A
Fistful of Scripts’ is the perfect environment in which to resolve these
issues,” says Sean McIntyre.
Open
the general public, admission to 'A Fistful of Scripts' is free however gold
coin donations are accepted at the door. Making this possible is generous
assistance from Theatre Works.

ABOUT ‘A Fistful of
Scripts’
We write ‘em. They read
‘em. You hear ‘em.
Writers
rode into town with a fistful of scripts and went lookin’ for actors and
directors. When they got together all hell broke loose. Now they’ve formed a
posse. When they find The Audience... anything could happen.
Starring
Writers that write ‘em, Actors that read ‘em and Directors that direct ‘em.
Special guest appearance by The Audience that hears ‘em.
A
100% non-profit production, 'A Fistful of Scripts' acknowledges the kind
assistance of Theatre Works, St Kilda.
The
driving philosophy and rationale behind 'A Fistful of Scripts’ is to take the
work out to the audience. We write 'em. They read 'em. You hear 'em.
