NEWS | Mornington Local Scores Direct Hit At Melbourne Fringe

Mornington resident Dyllan Corbett stars as EDDIE in a contemporary tale enjoying its global premiere this week at 2011 Melbourne Fringe Festival. ‘Bomb The Base’ is a full-length stage production that dissects complex personal relationships and global political alliances.

On the eve of her uncle's funeral within 9/11's lengthening shadow an eloquent, yet jet-lagged ALICE returns from Washington, where she works as a political analyst, to confront her own personal Ground Zero.

Dyllan says he loved ‘Bomb The Base’ from the moment he read it.

“It had this eloquent metaphor for trauma that was expressed comedically, dramatically and most of all, personally. It conveyed a powerful message that i wanted to be a participate in," says Dyllan

Written by prolific Melbourne-based international playwright Mark Andrew, ‘Bomb The Base’ runs this week until Oct 8. Led by Christina Walls as ALICE, the deft and highly emotive performance by a strong strong cast is already attracting outstanding reviews and good sized-audiences.

"‘Bomb The Base’ has been such a beautiful challenge to be a part of. The play has helped the cast connect with each other and ourselves. It will feel like a big chunk is missing once we finish the show."

When ‘Bomb The Base’ concludes, Dyllan will refocus on his own writing projects.
"I plan to continue re-drafting and writing a film screenplay and hopefully get a few short films produced in the next six months."
